Fox Lake Municipal Building/Fire Station/Police Station
Growth and aging facilities in this small community necessitated the design and construction of a modern municipal center that would accommodate the needs of the city’s governing structure as well as its fire and police stations.
Each of the entities had been working in outdated, cramped spaces. The fire station, for example, had been operating out of a four-bay vehicle storage garage. The City faced the challenge of funding this new construction without overburdening the taxpayers.
Kunkel Engineering assisted the City of Fox Lake in applying for and receiving a $1million Farmers Home Administration (FHA) low-interest loan to fund the project.
Construction on the 23,000-square-foot facility began in August and was completed just eight months later, by April of the following year.
