Berlin Street & Utility Reconstruction
The City of Berlin retained Kunkel Engineering Group to design and oversee construction of the projects, undertaking storm and sanitary sewer construction, street reconstruction and installation of water mains in four locations as well as street resurfacing at three additional sites. The collective costs associated with the projects totaled $2.88 million, some $1.47 million under the original project estimates and well within the contracted totals. Kunkel Engineering Group worked diligently with the City of Berlin to stage these projects so as to induce the least amount of upset and inconvenience to the community. Kunkel Engineering achieved that goal and overcame the challenges presented by heavy rains and flooding that occurred mid-construction during June 2008. The projects were finished on time, under budget and in accordance with City standards.
